David started his career in the restaurant business at age 14 working at Shoney’s restaurant in Huntington, West Virginia. His first position in management was at 18 as a Kitchen Manager and he was promoted to Area Supervisor at age 23. In his 25 years with Shoney’s, he held various positions including Director of Training, Region Vice President of Operations, and SVP of Franchise & Development.
In 1999, David joined Arby’s Franchisee RTM, as a Region Vice President operating 56 restaurants in TN and KY. With the help of an incredible team the region grew and David was promoted to President of RTM Southeast in May of 2003. As a Region President he served as a member of RTM’s Executive Committee and served on the Operations Executive Team.
In September of 2004, David left RTM, to become an Arby’s Franchisee with the purchase of four Arby’s in Georgia. He served on The Board of Directors of ARCOP, Arby’s purchasing and supply chain, for six years. He sold his franchise in June of 2014.
David, joined The Krystal Company in August 2014 as Vice President of Franchise Operations for 121 restaurants in 10 states until joining AES in April 2020.
David is a people-oriented leader helping coach individuals and teams to achieve goals. He believes leadership skills are developed from continual learning, teaching, coaching and a commitment to people!
